Our Nature Kindergarten Program is a full time program for ages 4-6. We are not a licensed childcare so children will have leaders who care for them within the program and there is a greater freedom for children to explore the natural environment daily, which is highly beneficial for children and heightens development of focus when we do numeracy, literacy and STEM.
In winter we will have our winter wellness curriculum for children where we will spend time learning how to play and explore with indoor and outdoor flow, how to look after ourselves using nature, cooking over the campfire and using it to keep warm as we share stories and songs; keep physically warm while we continue learning at Pinehaven Reserve and Scout Hall. From time to time we may have excursions to different locations for learning and nature education. We are also excited to have contact with visiting speakers who will come and talk about different areas of nature and learning with children such as beekeepers, people from Kapiti herb society and more.
Our leaders are Nature School practitioners who are passionate to care for children and follow their interests. We are embedding a project approach to our program where we will work collaboratively with children on emerging interests. You can choose between 1-5 days per week as a permanent alternative program to childcare. To enroll we will meet with you and sign our specific forms for booking your permanent space.
